Ancestry: Muggleborn. Hermione's the first in her family to ever be a witch and her parents have no idea what to do with her most days, though they're very proud.
Financial Status: Hermione has never been anything other than responsible so she has quite a bit saved in a Muggle bank for herself. She just doesn't have enough to buy herself a flat just yet. Her family is lower middle class and more than willing to help her out if she's in a jam, but Hermione hasn't resigned herself to either using her parents money or asking Mr. Weasley for a raise just yet.

During the War: Hermione was, essentially, the brains behind the operation, spending most of her time between battles in the library trying to find some spell, some artifact, some way to take Voldemort out for good. She wasn't involved directly in very many battles, but she fought her hardest in the ones she was in. She was also the one trying desperately to hold the Trio together in the face of the perilous situations and Harry's fluctuating moods half because of his role in the War and half because of Voldemort messing with his head.

Her relationship with Ronald Weasley remained strong through the years and the two have plans to move in together. Eventually. Now, with the War over and a life to be pieced back together, Hermione is staying with her parents until she can accumulate enough money to stay elsewhere, desperately trying to fit her plans for her future into the reality of her present. At first, she was only helping Minister Weasley out with his paperwork and other idle office business, but that soon turned into a full-fledged job offer which Hermione graciously accepted.
